The short version

Audio is never recorded, and it never leaves your iPhone without asking.

There is no account, no advertising and no tracking. We don’t sell data.

Sound and captions

Amplification and captions run on your iPhone.

On some older iPhones, a few caption languages are only available through Apple’s speech recognition servers. Hark asks before using them, separately for each language. If you agree, what people say is sent to Apple to be transcribed, under Apple’s privacy policy. Hark never stores audio.

What stays on your iPhone

Your Sound Profile, your settings and the conversations you choose to save stay on your iPhone until you delete them or delete the app. Hark has no server of its own and no account.

Usage data

Hark sends app events (for example which screens and buttons are used, or whether the Sound Check finished), crash reports and performance diagnostics to PostHog, our analytics provider, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). We use them to fix problems and make Hark better.

They carry a random identifier, never your name, email or Apple Account, and never audio or caption text. You can turn this off at any time in Hark’s Settings.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Apple. Hark uses RevenueCat to check your subscription; RevenueCat receives your purchase receipts and a random app user ID. Neither receives your audio.

Notifications

If you start a free trial and allow notifications, Hark schedules one reminder on your iPhone for the day before the trial ends.

Children

Hark is not directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Usage data is anonymous and not linked to you, so we usually can’t tell which data is yours. You can stop sharing it in Settings at any time. To ask about access or deletion, write to hark@oguzhantasimaz.com.
